The Factory
This project required extensive research into a factory that once served as the center of the village but no longer exists. I developed two design proposals after extensive sketch exploration. The final design directly references the factory’s original architecture: a small-scale replica of the three chimneys was built using clay bricks (“tijolo de burro”), matching the original materials and structure. A long white wall with two diagonal elements evokes the factory’s sloped roofs. Four ceramic tile panels were created: two featuring period advertising designs, and two illustrating the factory and its workers. The ground was finished with white stone and crushed bricks, while eco-friendly solar lights animate the installation at night. Today, this work serves as a reference point, honoring the past and preserving the memory of the village’s industrial heritage.
